Emmanuel Wondimu
Emmanuel Wondimu is a rising senior at Columbia University’s School of General Studies majoring in Anthropology. He moved from the UK to enroll at Columbia last year in the Fall semester.
Prior to joining Columbia, Emmanuel worked as a Patient Involvement Officer at Cancer Research UK (CRUK), the world’s largest independent cancer research organization. In his role at CRUK, Emmanuel was responsible for the management of two advisory groups made up of people affected by cancer. Emmanuel facilitated consultations with these groups for CRUK staff members who were looking to gain advice on their projects to make their work more patient-led.
Through the Social Impact Fellowship, Emmanuel hopes to improve his leadership skills and learn about the US healthcare system from mentors in the field. From there he will explore how he can help expand the use of patient involvement as a way of making treatments more patient-centered.
