Jonathan Navia is a rising junior at Columbia’s School of Engineering and Applied Sciences where he is majoring in Earth and Environmental Engineering. His social impact areas of interest include environmentalism and social justice. Growing up in a developing country, he witnessed the impacts of unsustainable practices, which inspired him to pursue a career in environmental engineering. Jonathan is also interested in helping marginalized communities that are disproportionately affected by environmental issues, with the primary goal of empowering them and ensuring that their environmental concerns are addressed.

Through the Social Impact Fellowship, he hopes to broaden his knowledge of social impact topics, explore career paths in the social sector, and develop the skills necessary to come up with effective solutions.
