Peter Brown
Peter Brown is a rising senior at Columbia University’s School of General Studies. Majoring in Political Science, Peter hopes to improve his understanding of the political theories that shape the foundation of public policy. Before enrolling at Columbia University, Peter worked for the Department of Children and Families for the state of Florida where he helped families who were facing financial distress in his community achieve stability. While engaging in this work, he saw firsthand the challenges low-income families face, including the unequal access to resources to meet basic needs. Peter wants to help people who are impacted by unequal opportunity. Through the Social Impact Fellowship, he hopes to gain the knowledge necessary to help tackle this complex problem, explore career pathways in the social sector, and work with a mentor who shares his passion for improving society.
