Edmond Byaruhanga Atto
Encouraging the growth of technology and innovation in Africa by providing pathways for youth to learn software development skills.
Edmond Atto is a former Senior Software Engineer at Andela, a software development company that works to catalyze the growth of tech ecosystems in Africa. Edmond produces The Andela Way, a publication that attracts 6,000 unique visitors daily and provides free content for people interested in learning about software development. Edmond is also the co-founder of Arvana, a mobile application that provides a digitized physical addressing system to increase access to critical infrastructure and emergency services in Uganda. In June, Edmond co-authorized and published an E-book entitled “Vumbula React,” a beginner’s guide to React, a JavaScript library for building user interfaces. Edmond received his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Makerere University in Uganda. Edmond has been awarded USAID’s Youth Spark Innovation Grant and a Team Total Grant for humanitarian projects. Previously, he was a recipient of the Andela Fellowship, which offers employment to high-potential technologists.
