Arden Hegele
Arden Hegele, PhD, is a Medical Humanities Fellow and literary scholar at Columbia University. She teaches on the Morningside campus in the Department of English and Comparative Literature and the Medical Humanities major at Institute for Comparative Literature and Society at Columbia University (ICLS), and at the Columbia University Irving Medical Center in the Department of Medical Humanities and Ethics. She is a co-founder and co-editor with Dr. Rishi Goyal of Synapsis: A Health Humanities Journal. Also with Dr. Goyal, she is co-director of the Motherhood and Technology Working Group at the Center for the Study of Social Difference. Beyond Columbia, Hegele is the Network Administrator of the global Consortium of Humanities Centers and Institutes Health and Medical Humanities Network. Her two books in progress are Romantic Autopsy: Literary Form and Medical Reading (Oxford) and the edited volume Culture and Medicine (Bloomsbury).
