Dr. Lall is the Director of the Columbia Water Center and the Alan and Carol Silberstein Professor of Engineering, and the Chair of the Dept. of Earth & Environmental Engineering at Columbia University. He has broad interests in hydrology, climate dynamics, water resource systems analysis, risk management and sustainability. Since 2012, he has been leading the America's Water Initiative, with the goal of understanding and solving critical water infrastructure and climate risks for the country. The Alabama project is an example of thinking towards a more resilient water system architecture for the nation.
