Michael Richard Katagaya
Leveraging data and civic technology to advance justice, governance, and transparency in Uganda.
Michael Richard Katagaya is a team leader at the Evidence and Methods Lab, where he leverages data and technology to support civic education and promote participatory governance across Uganda and Sub-Saharan Africa. Michael and his team simplify and repackage complex information about government services, public spending, and policy research and disseminate it to the public in more accessible formats, bridging the gap between government and its constituents. Through strategic partnerships and creative civic engagement programs, the lab empowers communities to use evidence for advocacy and policy influence, allowing them to make informed decisions about the policies that impact them most. Through the Scholars program, Michael aims to expand their digital citizen feedback mechanism and implement similar interventions, fostering transparency and inclusive governance across Uganda and the region.
Michael holds a Master of Arts Degree in Social Sector Planning and Management from Makerere University Kampala, Uganda, where he also completed a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Adult and Community Education.
