Marco Giometto
Marco Giometto is an assistant professor in the Civil Engineering and Engineering Mechanics department at Columbia University and an Amazon Scholar. He studies both fundamental and applied problems related to fluid dynamics and turbulence, with an emphasis on atmospheric boundary layer processes. His research spans various domains, encompassing turbulence and turbulent transport in urban and plant canopies, urban and complex-terrain meteorology, air-sea interaction, and hurricane boundary layer dynamics. He has received several recognitions for scientific work, including the NSF CAREER Award, the Army Research Office YIP Award, the Office of Naval Research YIP Award, and the EDME Award for Best Thesis in Mechanics at EFPL. He received his PhD in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Braunschweig and Florence Universities (2014), and a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (2016). Prior to joining Columbia, he held postdoctoral positions at the University of British Columbia and at the Center for Turbulence Research at Stanford University.
