Kamaru Oseni
Kamaru Oseni is a senior and sociology major at Columbia College. A motivated individual passionate about people, Kamaru has a lifelong goal of driving opportunity and equity for all. His social impact interests include educational development and advancement of underprivileged communities. Kamaru is a proud example of the transformative power of social impact. He is an alum of a one-of-a-kind program that closes the education opportunity gap for a cadre of disadvantaged, yet promising students from Boston called Beacon Academy. He pays it forward by tutoring and mentoring new cohorts to achieve the same educational opportunities that he enjoys.
The Social Impact Fellowship will enable Kamaru to develop valuable leadership skills while gaining exposure to the diverse, robust, and mission-driven social impact field. With this experience, Kamaru hopes to find solutions to bridge the education opportunity gap and explore how private, public, and government partnerships can work for the common good.
