Gazi F. Azad
Gazi F. Azad, Ph.D. is a tenure-track assistant professor in the Heilbrunn Department of Population and Family Health at Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health. She is also a licensed psychologist at the Center for Autism and the Developing Brain at New York Presbyterian Hospital (Columbia University Medical Center and Weill-Cornell Medicine). Azad is a Nationally Certified School Psychologist. Prior to joining the faculty at Columbia University, Azad was an assistant professor in the Department of Mental Health at the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health, and a clinical psychologist in the Center for Autism and Related Disorders at the Kennedy Krieger Institute.
The goal of Azad’s research is to move evidence-based practices into routine service delivery, and thus, enhance the public health impact of research. Her work uses the principles of implementation science to optimize service delivery across systems of care (education, health) for children with neurodevelopmental disorders including autism, learning disabilities, and ADHD. She is the developer of Partners in School, a multifaceted, multilevel implementation package for aligning evidence-based practices across home and school for children on the autism spectrum. Additional areas of expertise include community-embedded research, mixed methods, and topics related to diversity, equity, and inclusion in service provision.
