On April 12 2022, Columbia World Projects hosted an event on the health and humanitarian toll of the ongoing war in Ukraine.
The event explored the fastest-growing refugee crisis since World War II, with nearly 12 million people being forced from their homes - mostly women, children, and the elderly - and 13 million people stranded in affected areas within Ukraine. The health of the Ukrainian population prior to the invasion by Russia and the ongoing challenge of meeting their needs was discussed. Discussion participants shared the challenges they are most concerned about as the crisis continues, and their insights on how the global community can assist.
