R. Yamir Gomez Carrasco
Yamir joined Columbia World Projects as a Project Officer in July 2022. Prior to joining CWP, Yamir was a Program Manager at the Silver School of Social Work at New York University where they managed federal and city funded interventions that addressed HIV, substance use disorder, and overdose priorities at the individual, family and community level. As part of their work, Yamir oversaw assessment, capacity-building, planning, implementation and evaluation activities related to innovative public health approaches and evidence-based practices. Before joining NYU, they conducted independent research as an undergraduate research fellow focused on queer of color critique and affect theory at University of California, Berkeley, where they received their Bachelor of Arts with a double major in Ethnic Studies and Cognitive Science. At UC Berkeley, Yamir supported anti-oppression oriented curriculum and pedagogy at the Multicultural Community Center and chaired the Ethnic Studies Department Grantmaking Committee.
